Are you a compassionate, friendly person who likes to care for others? Then, you may be just who we NEED! Blacktown, Westmead and Mount Druitt hospitals are looking for volunteers to be community companions for palliative care patients in their homes.
The community companions — a new volunteer role created by Western Sydney Local Health District WSLHD - will be required to provide companionship, emotional and practical support and dedicate up to three hours a week to support a palliative care patient and their family.
WSLHD director of supportive and palliative medicine Dr Philip Lee said the volunteers would provide vital, in-home support to patients with a life-limiting illness.
