A few locals were enjoying a drink and chatting, along with a bit of Halloween fun. They quickly embraced the presence of visitors and we ed in the discussions. The food we ordered was simple fare but well presented and very tasty. It arrived in a reasonable period of time and the hosts checked that all was okay part way through out meal.
When we deliberated on a beer, the host explained and recommended which one he thought that we'd enjoy - most definitely. After the meal we chatted about the Lancaster bomber squ who used to frequent the pub during WW2 and were pleased to be shown a room dedicated to the men who had served at 57 and squadron.
The pub has a table which has names scratched into the wood from men during the war - wonderful history. A dresser holds a library of great books telling stories of the time and the link to the airfield nearby in East Kirkby. I understand that the couple running the pub are new. But what a refreshing change to be able to hear oneself think, in with the lively banter and enjoy a good beer and meal.
Even We chatted in food lion the have the landlord's undivided attention for a while to chat about the men who made history. Good luck to you both and we'll be back. Get the Bateman's Skull and hammers out in readiness. Good location pub? Camping site. New owners and improvements being made daily. These presumably will also be updated as time goes by. Good and very NOVEL waste disposal which is easy and user friendly along with separate water to clean off any waste surplus.
Also and separate away from waste there is clean fresh drinking water. We were well aware of the Wedding party on Friday and therefore booked for an evening meal on Saturday evening. A good meal and good value for money. All Mains 6. No complaints. Our two dogs Cassie and Newton were allowed into the bar area- thank you.
Would stay again. And We were welcomed once we had set up on the field and the hosts and staff were very friendly and accommodating. Would like to see it again after the ongoing improvements.
